Our stage performers have the opportunity to work with some of the UK's leading musical theatre directors, choreographers and musical directors on professional-level productions of new and established repertoire.
ABOUT YOUR AUDITION
Our auditions take the form of an all-day workshop comprising acting, singing and movement. They are led by our oustanding creative teams, who produce our shows each season. You would need to prepare a musical theatre song of your own choice but everything else is taught on the day. An audition fee is payable to cover all costs for the full day audition.
The NYMT offers unparalleled opportunities for musicians wishing to gain experience performing in a pit orchestra, on-stage band or as actor-musicians. We seek outstanding young musicians (approx. Grade 7+) for all our productions.
ABOUT YOUR AUDITION
For your audition, we simply ask you to prepare a piece of music to demonstrate musicality and technique. You may be asked to attend a second audition at a later stage.
Some of our productions offer exciting opportunities for actor-musicians, too. To be considered for an actor-musician role, you would need to apply for audition as a STAGE PERFORMER and check the box for ACTOR-MUSICIAN stating what instrument(s) you play.
The NYMT Creative Team Mentoring Scheme offers places to Assistant Directors, Choreographers, Musical Directors, Designers and Wardrobe Supervisors. We are able to offer such opportunities to those aiming to work professionally in the performing arts who have recently graduated from – or are about to complete courses at – university, drama school, college, conservatoire or other higher education institutions.
You will have the opportunity to work alongside some of the UK’s leading practitioners.
If you are interested in taking part in our Creative Team Mentoring Scheme, please send an email with CV and a covering letter of application to [email protected]
Interviews take place during our audition period in January and February each year.
NYMT offers exciting opportunities for young people aged 16 to 23 to work on major productions as Deputy and Assistant Stage Managers, as Assistant Lighting and Sound Technicians and as Wardrobe Assistants. Participants work with experienced practitioners and alongside some of the UK’s leading Lighting and Sound Designers, Technicians and Wardrobe Supervisors.
If you are interested in any of these aspects of theatre, the NYMT provides the perfect opportunity for you to advance your skills and be involved in high-class, professionally led productions in outstanding venues.
Stage, technical and wardrobe crew join the cast, musicians and creative teams for residential rehearsals - followed by the production week - in summer. Some stage management assistance might also be required for a week of rehearsals at Easter.CLICK HERE TO BOOK YOUR INTERVIEW

We'll send you a specially written guide that’s packed with great ideas and we would encourage all participants to undertake fundraising activities for themselves and others. We're also here to provide advice if you need it.
The NYMT Bursary Fund exists to provide help in cases of need. Bursary application forms may be requested once a place in the company has been offered.
