What happens next?
After the application window has closed, all applications will be reviewed by a team that is independent of the casting process. We don't apply fixed criteria but will prioritise those who are able to demonstrate the greatest level of need.
Decisions will be communicated by email and you will be asked to confirm whether or not you'd like to proceed with your offer. You may be awarded the full amount requested, a partial amount, or none at all.
While we have limited resources, we'll do whatever we can to support you. We may be able to spread the cost of instalments over additional months. Please get in touch with us if you'd like to discuss this.
What does the fee cover?
The fees we charge cover things like:
Your fee doesn’t include anything it costs you to travel to and from rehearsals, workshops or productions. If you’re taking part in a production, it also usually only covers bed and breakfast during the production period. We’ll communicate exactly what food expenses your fee covers when we make you an offer, but typically the most we will ask you to budget for, in addition to your fee, is up to five days of lunch and dinners (e.g. sandwiches, meal-deals or take-aways).
The direct costs to NYMT for an actor taking part in a summer production in 2026 are approximately:
Accommodation £1,250
Production costs £850
Staffing £1,050
Actual total cost to NYMT per actor: £3,150
This amount doesn’t take into account NYMT’s running costs (such as core staff salaries and other general costs like insurance and marketing) or tax reliefs.
Once we’ve estimated ticket income for a production and taken into account general fundraising that has been offered to NYMT, we calculate your participation fee.
