Some of the opportunities below are available only by coming to one of our Audition Workshop days, while others you can book directly.

We add new opportunities regularly, so keep checking throughout the year.

Audition Workshop Days

Many of our opportunities, like our productions, are available only to those who come to one of our audition workshop days.

Our audition workshop days are split into three sessions: acting, singing and dance. Acting and dance are group sessions, and there’s no need to prepare anything for them. Singing is a short solo performance of a song you like performing.

Once you sign up to an audition workshop day, we'll send you all the information you need to prepare.

This workshop has a fee of £55 and offers a full day of working with our team of industry professionals.

Our next audition workshop days take place in January and February 2026. After the audition workshop day, we may ask to see you again at one of our casting days. See 'After Auditions', below.

After Auditions

Following your audition workshop day, we’ll invite you back for whatever we think is best for you at your stage of training. This might be to a follow-up casting workshop or one of our Skills workshops.

If you are invited to a casting workshop, you will be asked to prepare specific material for one or two of our projects, from either our productions or our new musical workshops. If we tell you that we'd like to see you for a possible role in one of our new musical workshops, this means that we'll consider you for any one of our new musical workshops, except of course any that take place on dates that you've told us you're unavailable.

Our casting workshops in 2026 take place on 15, 21 and 22 February. Each casting workshop lasts a few hours, and there is no additional charge for attending.

OUR AUDITION LOCATIONS IN 2026

Auditions for our 50th Anniversary productions in 2026 are available to book.

Here are some of the places we'll be visiting.

Skills workshops

We offer our renowned Skills workshops throughout the year, which are an opportunity for young actors to work intensively with our outstanding creatives in the three disciplines of acting, singing and dance.

Our Skills workshops are available as residential and non-residential. Many are available only to those who come to our audition workshop days in January and February each year.

We also have some workshops available for public booking at other times of the year: keep reading to see what we have available.

What happens on a Skills workshop?

Each Skills workshop is slightly different, because we tailor them to the young people taking part. But all our workshops will have sessions across all three disciplines: in acting, singing and dance.

There will the opportunity to develop confidence and skills in individual performance, as well as in group performances and routines. There'll be the opportunity to focus on specific areas that you feel less comfortable in, and to work on things like audition technique.

All our workshops are run by industry professionals, giving you the opportunity to work directly with experts who are currently 'in the business', and to seek advice about your future career.

Our non-residential workshops are generally run from mid-morning until early evening, while our residential workshops are fully immersive experiences, with sessions throughout the day, and the opportunity to relax and make new friends with others who share your love of music theatre.

Our next workshops are available to those attending our audition workshop days, with public booking opening in the Spring of 2026.

Productions

We usually produce three or four shows a year. These productions have young people on stage, in the orchestra or band, behind the scenes and on the creative team.

These are fully residential experiences, often with a week's rehearsal during the Easter holidays, and two further weeks in the summer, culminating in public performances in a professional theatre.

To take part in a production, you'll need to attend one of our auditions (booking is open mid-October to mid-February each year).

New Musical workshops

We offer our renowned New Musical workshops throughout the year, which are an opportunity for young actors to work alongside composers, writers and our professional creatives in developing brand new music theatre, while at the same time further developing their own skills in acting, singing and dance.

Our New Musical workshops are available as residential and non-residential and are available only to those who come to our audition workshop days in January and February each year.

OUR RESIDENTIAL PROJECTS IN 2026

These are our residential productions and workshops in 2026.

These opportunites will be open to young actors, instrumental musicians and young creative and production assistants. To take any role in one of our productions, you'll need to attend an audition or interview.

FEES

NYMT fees vary from course to course, project to project. We're a charity (non-profit) and we work hard to keep fees as low as we can while maintaining the high quality of what we do.

We never want finances to be a barrier. We provide our Young Company Members with a fundraising guide and we offer various bursaries at a range of levels.
