HOW TO APPLY FOR AUDITION AS A MUSICIAN
This year we are in search of young people aged 10 to 23 who have a passion for musical theatre.
Successful applicants will have the opportunity to be in the orchestra of a fully staged musical, whether it be an established work or the premiere of NYMT's most recent commission. We shall also be casting the workshop of a brand-new musical in development and our NYMT Platform Series where we showcase graduate talent across the UK.
For all our productions we are seeking outstanding young musicians who have a love of musical theatre and wish to gain experience in a pit band under the direction of leading industry professionals. As a guide, you would be at approx. Grade 7 level or above, but it does not matter if you have not taken any grades if you feel you can meet that standard.
To apply, we are simply asking you to submit a self-tape of your playing. The closing date for musician applications is 8 March 2024.

The application administration fee is £15.

Successful applicants may be invited to attend a further audition, online or in person. There are no additional fees for this.
Our creative teams are excited to discover young talent from across the UK.
We’d like to hear you play a piece of music that you enjoy and that demonstrates your technique and musicality.
If you play more than one instrument, please make a separate video recording of each.
We would like to hear your principal instrument first and then just short extracts on any others.
Do not forget to introduce yourself - tell us your name, how old you are and where you come from.
You can tell us an interesting fact about yourself, too, if you like!
Feel free to use a backing track or a pianist, if necessary, but just make sure we can hear you, loud and clear.
When your videos are complete, please save these as separate videos (or merge them together, if you like) and upload them to YouTube, Vimeo or a file sharing site like Dropbox, for example.
You will need to provide the URL links to your videos, so please be sure to have these ready when you make your application.
Once your application is complete, press submit, and you will be redirected to the secure payment site via PayPal. N.B. You do not need a PayPal account; just select payment by debit or credit card.
WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?
Once we have received your application, your videos will be forwarded to our musical directors.
