Paul Cattermole
Monday, 10 April 2023PAUL CATTERMOLE.
Paul successfully auditioned for the NYMT in 1994 when he was cast into the new production of PENDRAGON which opened in February 1995 at the magnificent new Festival Theatre in Edinburgh and which was the the subject of the first of London Weekend Television's new Arts Documentary series, OPENING SHOT.
That company - which included another NYMT debutant, HANNAH SPEARRITT, later to join Paul as members of the hugely popular group, S CLUB SEVEN - toured in early August to the National Theatre of Taiwan in Taipei, followed by two performances as part of the International Youth Arts Festival in Hong Kong.
At the end of the month the production then played at The Lyric Theatre, Hammersmith prior to a memorable week long season on Broadway in New York at the 2,500 seater City Center Theater produced by Andrew Lloyd- Webber.
Paul was a hugely likeable and charismatic member of company and it was no surprise when he was spotted by Simon Fuller and became a member of S Club Seven soon after.
Sadly Paul died in early April and will be much missed by all those who knew him.
His family, to whom we send our sincere condolences, has most generously asked those wishing to remember Paul, rather than sending flowers, to make a donation to the National Youth Music Theatre which he remembered with huge affection and gratitude for launching his career.
