NYMT COVID-19 Contingency Plan

Monday, 9 March 2020

NYMT continues to monitor the situation regarding Coronavirus with reference to our upcoming Easter courses at Sevenoaks and Tonbridge. Given that the situation is evolving we will respond to government advice as it changes and publish any changes to our contingency plan on our website, and in an email to parents and staff.

Currently Public Health advice is that anyone returning from North Italy and affected areas in Asia should self-isolate for 14 days. Please see https://www.gov.uk/guidance/wuhan-novel-coronavirus-information-for-the-public#advice-for-travellers for an up-to-date list of affected areas.

Staff and participants must follow the latest advice from Public Health England. If they have recently been to an affected area that has been named as somewhere from which all returning travellers must self-isolate, then they will not be able to attend the course. If they have recently returned from the second category of affected areas, where the advice is to self-isolate if they develop symptoms, then they must inform the Producer and Head of Pastoral Care so that we can keep a careful eye on them.

In both cases, we require parents/participants to notify NYMT. If unable to attend the course as a direct result of following Government guidelines, you will receive a full refund of any fees paid, upon presentation of documentary evidence. Do not attend the course as you may unknowingly be putting others at risk.

We are required to follow the contingency plans of Sevenoaks School and Tonbridge School and will monitor these as they evolve. In the event that the course should be cancelled due to an outbreak of the virus, the requirements of the school, or under Public Health guidance on public gatherings, all members will receive a full refund of any fees paid.

During the course, all participants must follow hygiene rules, and staff will ensure that everyone regularly uses hand sanitizer to minimize the spread of the virus. We shall remind everyone of good hygiene practice and infection control. Parents should talk to their children in advance of the course to make them aware that they should notify staff straightaway if they start to feel unwell.

In the event of any concerns over a participant or member of staff, they will be immediately isolated. We will follow current NHS advice on isolation and we will contact NHS 111 to notify them. In the case of younger participants, parents will be required to remove their child from the course. If it is deemed necessary, the course will be cancelled and parents will be required to make arrangements for their children to be collected.

Should the course need to be cancelled part-way through, NYMT will not be in position to refund fees covering costs already incurred. However, NYMT is investigating alternative means to deliver the planned productions.

In the situation of parents withdrawing their child because they are worried about the possibility of an outbreak rather than because they may be incubating the illness, the NYMT Course Payments Policy will be followed. See https://nymt.org.uk/terms-and-conditions/
